Nestled in southeastern New Mexico, Carlsbad is a tucked-away gem of a destination offering the chance to enjoy a road trip through the high desert to experience two nearby National Parks and this family-friendly city nestled along the beautiful Pecos River.
Nature
Carlsbad Caverns National Park: The caverns are an other-worldly experience of vast cave networks, incredible rock formations forming amazing shapes, and a great hike down and around the cave which offers a delightfully cool temperature even through the hottest summer days. From mid-April to October, the Bat Flight Program at sunset is worth staying to see. It is truly incredible to see these amazing mosquito (and other bug) eating bats—an incredible part of the desert eco system--come out to start their dinner.

Getting There
There are 3 major nearby airports where you can fly into and rent a car, El Paso, TX, Albuquerque, NM or, for a smaller commuter flight, Roswell, NM. Flying into Lubbock, TX is also an options, but we tend to prefer the other airports.
